As soon as I got back to Honduras from my Christmas vacation, we jumped right into our week of camp. Normally, our church has camp during Christmas break. However, this year we had it the first week of January. It was my first year attending, and I enjoyed being a counselor. There were lots of competitions and games, but the most important part was sharing the Gospel with the 155 campers that attended this year. By the end of the week, several young people were saved, and many surrendered their lives to full time ministry.
I recently passed through the areas where the hurricanes hit three months ago. It broke my heart to see the hundreds of families still living under tarps that they strung up under the trees or make-shift tents under bridges because they lost everything in the hurricanes. I am thankful for the ministries in that area that have continued reaching out, trying to help provide for the physical and spiritual needs of the people.
On February 19, another tragedy struck. However, this one was much closer to home here at New Life Baptist Ministries. I was grocery shopping when I got the message. The young men in the seminary had been on their way to go camping. But they were in a car accident, and one of the boys didn’t make it. David was 20 years old. He was always so full of energy, and he always had a smile on his face. It hit us all pretty hard. The next day, we were able to attend the funeral at his church in northern Honduras. Since the pastor’s wife was the only pianist, I volunteered to play so she could be with her church members during this time. It was my first time playing the piano for a funeral. By Monday, we were all back at classes and in our normal routines. But those first days were difficult. However, I can definitely say that something good
came of that situation. We had four seminary students get assurance of their salvation that week! Praise the Lord! We know that we will see him in heaven again some day! Please pray for the seminary students as they continue adjusting to the absence of their friend.
My bus route has continued to grow over the last few weeks! On Sunday, I had 32 come to church with me! My second trip had 23 people in my car. We were definitely packed in there! All of them said that they wanted to come back next week. I am so thankful for the growth and excitement that I have seen over the last few weeks.
Lastly, many of you have asked if there is a way to ship me packages. The answer has always been “no.”
However, that has now changed! The following address will be my new mailing address:
