Dear Friends,

As always, the past two months have been busy ones. I mentioned in my last letter that a fire had swept through the entire right side of my neighborhood and burned everything up to the gate of my house. Well, a few weeks later, another fire swept through the other side of the neighborhood and burned everything up to the other side of my house. Once again, the Lord protected my house and kept us all safe.

We also celebrated Mother’s Day here in Honduras. My bus route partner and I bought little coffee cups that we filled with candy for our bus route kids to take home to their mothers. We also had two mothers come to church with us on the route for the first time. It was a blessing to be able to see the mothers attending church with their children! New Life Baptist Church also celebrated its 25th anniversary this past month. We had over 560 people attend our anniversary celebration! I had twenty-three people on my bus that Sunday, including several visitors.

At the end of May, our church hosted a Church Growth Conference. There were pastors from all over Honduras that brought some of their members to participate in the conference. There were several wonderful sermons about continuing in the work and not getting discouraged. The sixth through ninth grade students actually had the opportunity to sing a song for the guests during the morning workshops. I was so proud of them! It brought tears to my eyes to hear them sing, “I am not ashamed to claim the name of Jesus.” I pray that they meant the words that they sang.

We have also come to the close of another school year. The end of the school year is always a bittersweet time for me. Because of various reasons, our bilingual school only goes up to ninth grade. After ninth grade, the students have to transfer to another school to finish out their high school. This year, I have eight students who are graduating from our school and moving on to the next chapter of their lives. Even though I’m sad to see them leave, I’m excited for them. I have really seen a lot of spiritual growth in several of these students over the last few months. Please pray for them as they take this next step. Pray that they will continue to apply the lessons that they’ve learned here. Pray that they will continue to attend church and that they will continue to grow spiritually.

I’m also headed home for the summer. I’m hoping to be able to visit several new churches. Pray for safety as I travel, and that God will open doors as I continue to try to raise support. Thank you for all your prayers!

Sincerely,
Ericka Wright
