This year has definitely been a different year. Talk about adventure! Thank you for your concern and your prayers over the last few weeks! I’m sure you have all had to change your lifestyles to adjust to the virus. We have too. For one thing, we are only supposed to be out and about based on the last number of our identity. We are only allowed out once every two weeks. Police are stationed at the entrance of the cities and towns checking each identity and allowing only two people per vehicle to enter the city limits. Thankfully, where I live, things are more relaxed. There are still small stores open in my area where I can buy needed supplies.

In the beginning, things were definitely a bit crazy as our lives were turned upside down. The school switched to online classes. Four American teachers left on evac flights that the embassy put together. Even our church routines changed. We still have a Sunday church service and a midweek service, but we cannot run bus routes with our large buses due to the restrictions. Hence our services are much smaller than normal. But we have been sending teams to different routes to have house services. We also have been streaming our services on Facebook for those who cannot get out.

But even as crazy as things have been, I must say that this virus has brought many of us together in a way that was unexpected. We still have the seminary students living on the church property. Since we all live, work, and worship together, we have also made time to relax and have fun together. One Saturday, we hiked into the mountains to a remote village and had a church service with them. Another Friday, we hiked to the peak of a nearby mountain and had a picnic while watching the sun set. Other evenings, we play volleyball or pull out the projector and watch a movie together. It has been a great time to get to know each other and relax during all the chaos.

I have also continued reaching out to my bus kids. I visit them once a week taking a bag of beans, a bag of rice, and a little dessert. They look forward to my visits as much as I do. We have also been able to have Bible clubs. It has been amazing to see God work week after week. I have been able to lead around 14 children and one adult to the Lord in the last month. I have come to realize that now more than ever, these children need hope! They have so many questions and are so eager to hear! It has been a blessing to see them truly repent, and pray with tears in their eyes, giving their heart to Jesus. Thank the Lord for every opportunity He has given me! Please pray that we can use this crisis to continue reaching the lost.

In Christ,
Ericka Wright

P.S- My laptop decided to crash the very weekend that Honduras shut down. Hence my very late prayer letter! Sorry!
